CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR GARTH AND MARIE JONES SCHOLARSHIP

The Mountain West Center for Regional Studies has issued a call for applications for the Garth and Marie Jones Scholarship. The scholarship pays up to $900 toward tuition. You could receive a scholarship that pays up to $900 for tuition.
This scholarship is for a USU graduate or undergraduate student with a record of high academic achievement and community service, majoring in one or more of the following: Communications; English; History; Languages, Philosophy, and Speech Communication; Liberal Arts and Sciences; Political Science; Sociology, Social Work, and Anthropology; or Economics. Expected graduation date must not be before May 2010. Applicants from the rural parts of Utah, southeastern Idaho, and southwestern Wyoming will be given preference in selection. Your letter of application should demonstrate a connection to these rural areas and an interest in studying and understanding the Mountain West and its people.
Please submit a letter of application, a resume, a current USU transcript (unofficial transcripts are acceptable) or a transcript from previous colleges (for transfer students), and the names and contact information of three references. There is no application form. Your letter should describe your interests, your experience, and your community service, as well as why you are interested in this scholarship. Please submit your application simply stapled. Do not submit it in folders or binders. If you choose to submit photos, which is not necessary, please limit your photos to three. (Please be sure to include your complete contact information: mailing address, email address, phone number, including how you can be reached over the Christmas holidays.)
Selection of recipient shall be made by the scholarship committee of the Mountain West Center for Regional Studies in the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences.
