Prospective Folklore Students
The Annual Fife Folklore Conference
 
The Fife Conference brings in nationally and internationally recognized guest folklore scholars to USU to teach undergraduate and graduate students. The Conference is held the first full week in June of each year.; The topics of conference focus change, so students can take this course more than once.; USU faculty--Lisa Gabbert, Jan Roush, Steve Siporin, Jeannie B. Thomas, and Barre Toelken (emeritus)--often teach during the conference as well.; Conference co-directors are Jan Roush and Jeannie Thomas.
This conference can be taken for undergraduate or graduate credit (3 credits): ENGL 4750.001, or HIST 4750.001, ENGL 6750.001 or HIST 6750.001.

USU is also the home to the Mountain West Center for Regional Studies and Utah State University Press, which publishes a number of folklore books and texts. The Mountain West Center hosts a Song Symposium, which focuses on traditional and ethnic music.; Graduate students in folklore at USU have opportunities to work with these resources, as well as to participate in ongoing fieldwork projects.
